Updates

The US release date of the digital single “Weil Weil Weil” is now confirmed for Oct. 16th, one week ahead of the album release date of Oct. 23rd.

European date will probably be a week before that, will confirm soon.

The album version of the track will be available from this website as a free download; rest of the public album will be streamed 2 tracks/week starting mid-week.

I’m looking at throwing 2 tracks onto myspace: given the bad quality of their streaming audio, are there any recommendations of which 2 tracks I should use?

Phew, what a day.

So here’s what’s going on right now:

  • Blixa is on day 3 of European promos, talking to various members of the press about the album and the supporter project and so on;
  • Digital single “Weil Weil Weil” is on its way to several digital distributors (in physical form, for some reason: why do I have to burn CD-Rs of the identical tracks that are just going to be ripped for release??)
  • Master and artwork for Alles Wieder Offen is going off to CD production companies in Germany and US;
  • To be immediately followed by artwork and master of Supporter Album #3 (possibly not final title), which will be made in Germany;
  • Getting logistics in place now for shipping of the Phase 3 CD/DVD;
  • Dealing with various-sized hurdles along the way (what’s an ISRC code? do we have one? how do we get/make one? what about UPC codes? do we need a different one for US vs. Europe? do we have appropriate sized artwork to fit the various production companies’ templates? who’s doing the DVD cover art anyway? etc.)
  • All that compounded by timezones and schedules: we are spread out over the world, with people involved at GMT+9, GMT+1, GMT-5, and GMT-8.  Even nailing down what “today” means is a challenge.

“Weil Weil Weil” single mastered…

Boris has just finished master the single (will be released digitally worldwide, we’ll probably make some physical copies for tour merchandise and online shop later).

The track listing is as follows:

  1.  Weil Weil Weil (Single Edit) 3:39
  2. Warteschleife/Hold – Remix by N.U. Unruh 2:27
  3. Kurt’s Weil – Remix by Jochen Arbeit 5:22
  4. Freie Radikale – Remix by Blixa Bargeld 4:25
  5. Meanwhile – Remix by Alexander Hacke 4:50
  6. Rückwärtsparken – Remix by Rudolf Moser 3:48
  7. Karaoke Mix 4:56

So you see, we managed to get around our distaste for remixes by having each band member do their own version.  Hope you’re all pleased at the existence of the Karaoke version, by the way.

me again

What’s new? Main neubauten.org site has been updated with a new splash page prominently featuring this site and album. I’m a little concerned about taking attention and focus away from the supporter site, as we would still like some last minute signups etc., but I guess we can’t make everything a priority…

Oh, and we’re working on a single. No, really, we are. Does anyone want to make a music video, by any chance?

Phew, album website updated…

Let me know if there are problems with links or spelling or whatever. Yes I know the pictures haven’t got a lot to do with the exact songs. I’ll try to dig up some screenshots or mini-clips from the work in progress webcasts if I have time, but don’t count on it.

Yes it’s a lot of lyrics. Yes I tried to give some pronunciation hints, hope you are amused by them. I heard our US distributor try to pronounce the album title and it occurred to me how easily it can be mangled by the English speaker, even such a simple phrase.

Thanks to Fal for his tireless and speedy graphical work.

Here we are…

So this is intended to be a semi-public place for us to share what happens as we try to do our independent release of the upcoming album, Alles Wieder Offen (translated roughly as Everything Open Again).

We, in this case, is not the royal or editorial plural, but an actual collection of people. Roughly broken down into:

  • yours truly, webmaster of neubauten.org and this site; also handling a fair amount of coordination for the US side of this business;
  • Berlin office, handling all the coordination for the European side;
  • Constanze, our PR contact for Germany and most of Europe;
  • Howard, our PR contact for North America;
  • band members, you know who they are.
