Is anyone on Facebook?

Well I like the website and user interface better than MySpace, especially the iLike plugin which lets me put up music for streaming or downloading.

So I have just taken over one of the Neubauten pages on Facebook (the one that you get by searching for “Einstuerzende Neubauten”) and laid claim to the more popular one with the umlaut, which Facebook won’t let me have without some sort of confirmation process, which I hope won’t take too long.

I’ve also tried to register as the Potomak label and/or EN on last.fm, but have been told that due to the existence of both the label and the band on the site, it will take up to 3 days for them to somehow confirm my identity. No clue how they mean to do so, really, at least with respect to the label.

Anyway, once those accounts have been verified and fully activated, I will put up the entire “Alles Wieder Offen” album for streaming on both sites on Friday, when the album releases in Europe.

[update: got control of the iLike/Facebook page, let’s see if this embedding thing works - if so please click on it and add it to your Facebook account!]

iLike Einstürzende Neubauten

US/Canada radio promotion

After trying to figure out how to get proper radio exposure in the US/Canada, we’ve managed to find (with help of our distributor) a promo company that services college/public radio stations, and also happens to also have many Neubauten fans working there.  They’re going to help us get the album out to 300+ college stations, and hopefully people that weren’t born back when Kollaps or even Halber Mensch came out will have a chance to get educated about this music.

Scary thought, ain’t it?

Finalizing supporter shipping…

Yes supporter CD/DVD are finally about ready to go out.

Finalizing mailing addresses, however, is Not.Fun.   However, better to spend some time now to get them correct rather than waste money and time on sending and then re-sending.

Yes if you’re a supporter and you aren’t sure that I have your correct mailing address, email me now.  There’s still a number of you that have incomplete addresses that have not responded to any of my emails asking for corrections.   Thank you.

single now on iTunes Germany

Here’s the link, I’m afraid I’m not in Germany/Europe so I can’t really tell you if it works but let’s hope it does:

Purchase digital single from iTunes Germany

I believe that this will only work if you both have iTunes and are in Germany or have a German credit card associated with your iTunes account. Other digital services will start carrying it soon. iTunes Germany has an exclusive for a week on this single.

US release delayed until Nov. 6th

Damn.  I mean “drat”.

Pardon the language.  Just found out that due to delays and errors that needed correcting with the US version of the artwork for the digipak and booklet, production has been delayed and cannot make it in time for the original release date, so we have to push the US release date back to the next date possible for our distributor Ryko, which would be Tuesday Nov. 6th.

No we are not happy with this as we wanted as close of a US release date as possible with the European dates, but unfortunately it was our fault in not getting the correct artwork to the production company in time to make it for the date that we need to have the CDs produced and at the distributor warehouse, and hence the delay.

This does not affect the European release date or the supporter’s album.

Amazon MP3 Store

Well for people who don’t like iTunes Store because of the highly compressed and DRM’d music at 99 cents or $1.29 (for the privilege of no DRM but still compressed), Amazon has now launched a beta version of their MP3 store, which offers 256K MP3 tracks without DRM, at variable per track prices that range from 59 cents to 99 cents. One would of course like to see lossless options at some point, preferably at a price that makes sense when compared with CDs, but I think it is a step in the right direction and a credible alternative to iTunes.

It of course doesn’t hurt that I did a search for Neubauten and found that both the “Weil Weil Weil” single and Alles Wieder Offen are already listed as upcoming.

So in case you are interested, here are:

“Weil Weil Weil” single on German iTunes

Quick confirmation: the digital single “Weil Weil Weil” (radio edit, 5 band member remixes, + karaoke version) will be available on German iTunes on October 5th.

Download “Weil Weil Weil”

Alright, it’s a month before the German release date so here is a free download from the album. This is the album version of the track “Weil Weil Weil”, many variations of which are going to be on the digital single.

Info and mp3 download on this page.

Please feel free to link to it if you also include a link to either alles-wieder-offen.com or neubauten.org. Thanks.

end of a phase…

Today is the last day to sign up or upgrade for Phase 3 of the neubauten.org supporter project, just about 5 years after the launch of the original version.  Lots of people have come and gone in that time; some who’ve been around since (literally!) day one are still around, and I hope that it’s been at least an interesting ride, bumps and all.

To paraphrase a certain cigarette ad, we’ve come a long way, baby.

supporters: retail store/radio program info

If you, dear supporter, haven’t gotten the mass email or seen the forum message from me, we are looking for information about retail shops and radio programs that you personally know to be inclined to carry/play the upcoming album. For consolidation reasons please post the information on the supporter forum thread here instead of in comments here.

If you aren’t a supporter and want to highly recommend store or DJ then feel free to leave a message here, I’m just trying to catch this info on as many fronts as I can.
